ARM Group LLC is looking for a Civil or Environmental Project Manager to join our well-established Solid Waste practice and collaborate with team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, CAD designers, and staff within the company to service our Solid Waste clients’ needs.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, conscientious, resourceful, well-organized, and team-oriented engineer that is able to meet project goals, schedules, and budgets. This role will support a wide range of projects related to solid waste management, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, water resources, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control planning, and construction administration.
Location: This role can be filled at our Columbia, MD or Ashland, VA locations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the development, design and permitting of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Develop project timelines, maintain schedules, coordinate with subcontractors, and complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Develop calculations, engineering reports, design drawings and investigation reports using the principles of soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems.
- Research code, zoning, ordinances, and other requirements as needed to ensure project compliance.
- Prepare and review engineering designs and permit applications to acquire approvals from regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with various the team to develop detailed technical proposals and refine and improve internal processes.
- Assess and mitigate project risks; Proactively recognize conditions and problems and develop effective solutions.
- Monitor project work progress, adhering to the scope of work and communicating with key stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, client communications, contract documents, etc. and consult with other internal partners as needed.
- Prepare invoices, track project budgets and projections.
- Present projects at public meetings/hearings, answering technical questions.
- Attend client & agency meetings and industry events.
- Mentor junior staff; participate in hiring of technical staff.
Base Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil or Environmental) from an accredited four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of applicable engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer registration in Maryland.
- Experience with stormwater management plans, erosion & sediment control design calculations, permitting and regulatory requirements in Maryland and surrounding states.
- Excellent communication skills: articulate and confident with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects.
- Strong technical competency and analytical ability with effective teamwork skills.
- Ambitious and eager to grow with a strong work ethic and self-motivated mentality.
- Must be able to work independently in a detailed and thorough manner.
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and other industry specific software.
- Reasonably proficient in MS Office Suite, and MS Project or equivalent project scheduling software.
Preferred Experience:
- Master’s degree in engineering (Civil or Environmental) from an accredited college or university.
Compensation Description:
Project Engineer: $73,900-106,000/year, based on experience
Project Manager: $90,000-125,000/year, based on experience
